It is 314 km from Islamabad and 51 km from Saidu Sharif Airport.[1 Malam Jabba is home to one of the two ski resorts in Pakistan; the other is at Naltar, Gilgit Baltistan.[2][3]On the main Madyan-Kalam road, the road turns to the right at Manglor town (12 km from Saidu Sahrif), for the Malam-Jabba Dara which has a series of small villages and settlements like Salanda, Jehanabad, Talegraam, Badar, Ser, Malam, Kishora, Spine Oba, and finally Jabba. Head Balloki or Balloki Headworks is a barrage on the Ravi River in the Punjab, Pakistan.it is 70 KM distance from Lahore. It was first built around in 1915 in British India as part of the ‘Triple Canals Project’ to feed the Lower Bari Doab Canal. The canal turned in a profit of 24% within ten years (in 1928–29).[1] The original weir has now been rebuilt as a full barrage. The Triple Canals project in Punjab began in 1905, soon after the completion of the Upper Bari Doab Canal (UBDC). Thus it was the second irrigation project to be implemented in Punjab. It constructed three canals: the Upper Jhelum Canal (UJC) from Mangla the Upper Chenab Canal (UCC) from Marala the Lower Bari Doab Canal (LBDC) from Balloki. The Upper Chenab and Lower Bari were linked at Balloki: the former brought water from Chenab to Ravi, and recharged it after depletion into the Upper Bari Canal. The Lower Bari Doab Canal then took the combined waters from Ravi and UCC down the Bari doab for irrigating lands.[2] This was the origin of the “link canal” concept, bringing waters from the western rivers into the eastern rivers of Punjab, which later became the foundation for the Indus Waters Treaty between present-day India and Pakistan. Where the Upper Chenab joined the Ravi river from the right, a few miles west of the village of Balloki, the Balloki Barrage was constructed. It was the largest barrage of its kind in India at that time. It had a 1,647-foot-long weir with thirty-five 12-metre-wide steel gates for regulating the water of Ravi. The Lower Bari Doab Canal branched off on the left of the barrage.[2] The canal started supplying water in 1912 and got fully completed in 1917. It irrigated 877,000 acres of land in the Montgomery and Multan districts.[1] The total cost of the LBDC project was Rs. 22 million. The river drains a total catchment area of 14,442 square kilometres (5,576 sq mi) in India after flowing for a length of 720 kilometres (450 mi). Flowing westward, it is hemmed by the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges, forming a triangular zone.[8] As the Ravi flows past Lahore in Pakistan (26 kilometres (16 mi) below Amritsar in India) it is called “The river of Lahore” since that city is on its eastern bank. Jaggery is a traditional non-centrifugal cane sugar[1] consumed in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia.[2] It is a concentrated product of cane juice and often date or palm sap without separation of the molasses and crystals, and can vary from golden brown to dark brown in colour. It is similar to the Latin American panela,[2] also known as piloncillo in Mexico. It contains up to 50% sucrose, up to 20% invert sugars, and up to 20% moisture, with the remainder made up of other insoluble matter, such as wood ash, proteins, and bagasse fibres.[2] Jaggery is very similar to muscovado, an important sweetener in Portuguese cuisine and British cuisine. The Kenyan Sukari ngutu/nguru has no fibre; it is dark and is made from sugar cane and also sometimes extracted from palm tree.[3] Jaggery is made of the products of sugarcane and the toddy palm tree. The sugar made from the sap of the date palm is more prized and less commonly available outside of the regions where it is made. The toddy palm is tapped for producing jaggery in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, syrup extracts from kithul (Caryota urens) trees are widely used for jaggery production.[5] All types of the sugar come in blocks or pastes of solidified concentrated sugar syrup heated to 200 °C (392 °F). Traditionally, the syrup is made by boiling raw sugarcane juice or palm sap in large, shallow, round-bottomed vessels. Historically, the sugarcane cultivators used crushers that were powered by oxen, but all modern crushers are power-driven. These crushers are placed in fields near the sugarcane plants. The cut and cleaned sugarcane is crushed and the extracted cane juice is collected in a large vessel. A quantity of the juice is transferred to a smaller vessel for heating on a furnace. The vessel is heated for about an hour. Dried wood pulp from the crushed sugarcane is traditionally used as fuel for the furnace. While boiling the juice, lime is added to it so that all the wood particles rise to the top of the juice in a froth, which is skimmed off. Finally, the juice is thickened. The resulting thick liquid is about one-third of the original volume. This hot liquid is golden. It is stirred continuously and lifted with a spatula to observe whether it forms a thread or drips while falling. If it forms many threads, it has completely thickened. It is poured into a shallow flat-bottomed pan to cool and solidify. The pan is extremely large to allow only a thin coat of this hot liquid to form at its bottom, so as to increase the surface area for quick evaporation and cooling. After cooling, the jaggery becomes a soft solid that is molded into the desired shape. The quality of jaggery is judged by its colour; brown means it is higher in impurities and golden-yellow implies it is relatively pure. Due to this grading scale, coloured adulterants are sometimes added to jaggery to simulate the golden hue. Jaggery is used as an ingredient in sweet and savoury dishes in the cuisines of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Iran. For example, a pinch of it is sometimes added to sambar, rasam and other staples in Udupi cuisine. Jaggery is added to lentil soups (dāl) to add sweetness to balance the spicy, salty, and sour components, particularly in Gujarati cuisine. Jaggery is slightly more nutritious than refined white sugar, according to a 2015 study. Regular refined white sugar contains no protein, fat, minerals, or vitamins. The Faisal Mosque (Urdu: فیصل مسجد‎, romanized: faisal masjid) is a mosque located in Islamabad, Pakistan. Daman-e-Koh (Urdu: دامن کوہ‎) is a viewing point and hill top garden north of Islamabad and located in the middle of the Margalla Hills. Its name is a conjunction of two Persian words, which together means foot hills. It is about 2400 ft from sea level and almost 500 ft from the city of Islamabad. It is a popular destination for the residents as well as the visitors to the capital. Daman-e-Koh is a midpoint for tourists on their way to the higher view point Pir Sohawa which is located at the top of Margalla Hills at an elevation of about 3600 ft. There is a plan to construct a chairlift from Daman-e-Koh to Pir Sohawa. Monkeys are a common sight during winter.
